Abstract: The last quarter of this century has increasingly seen developing countries participate in development activities of social, economic and environmental dimensions through the on-going thrusts in forestry development, particularly agroforestry. One of the important avenues for enhancing this noble tasks has been through the extension of development co-operation between the industrialized and developing countries in form of "Project(s)" through various donor agencies as grants or soft loans. In addition, such co-operation has shifted from "how can we get people to participate in our project(s) to what are the people's activities we can participate in supporting" sustainably throughout the main phases of such projects, i.e. identification, formulation, appraisal, implementation and evaluation. These five phases constitute the subject for discussion in .this paper.
